We'll be at Lowes Foods, 12524 Capital Blvd, to collect food to stock the shelves of the emergency food pantry at the Durham VA Volunteeer office. We need volunteers to work throughout the day in the lobby of Lowes to greet people as they come in, hand them the list of items needed, and to offer the opportunity to commemorate on our poster the name of someone they know who is serving/has served our country. This is a joyful, patriotic event and a wonderful way to make Veteran's Day and Memorial Day meaningful.
If you have a family member or friend who is deployed and would like our Mission to Military to provide a care package or cards of encouragement, please contact Deidra Powell at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Join us at one of our packing events to put together care packages to our deployed men and women. These events are appropriate for all ages!
