TODAY WFPC WILL BE RECEIVING THE PENTECOST
OFFERING sponsored by the PCUSA. The offering is shared among three
ministries: Young Adult Volunteers, Ministries for Youth, and Child Advocacy.
Ministries for youth include the Presbyterian Youth Triennium meeting which is
being held this year. Genie Richards from our church will be going this summer
to this conference at Purdue University. Ministries for Youth also sponsors a
youth book club and a web devotional series. Child Advocacy includes several
programs for children at risk. 40% of the offering stays at WFPC to be donated
as we wish to a program with similar goals. Suggestions for organizations or
programs can be placed in the Mission and Outreach box in the office suite.
NOMINATIONS FOR ELDERS AND DEACONS-The Officer
Nominating Committee is asking for your help in suggesting members of WFPC whom
you believe may be called to serve as elders and deacons beginning in 2014.
Brochures will be made available in the Sunday bulletin, in the Narthex, and
online through the Leaflets and the website, (www.wakeforestpres.org). The
brochure gives a description of the qualities that provide a good background
for possible candidates. We hope you will think about members whom you know and
suggest one or more. You do not need the permission of the individual to
nominate them. The deadline for nominations is today, May
19. Nominations may be placed in one of two marked boxes in the CLC and
Narthex, placed in the offering plate or handed to a committee member. Additionally
they may be emailed to the following address: onc2013@yahoo.com.
WFPC RUN CLUB-May 20 the Wake Forest Rotary
is sponsoring a 5K race. Let's show our community support with lots
of WFPC participants! If you would
like the camaraderie with fellow church members on a few group runs please
contact Dan Gregory (cdgreg2@gmail.com - 919-559-6020). Tentative
plans are two group runs each week, most likely Wednesday evening and Saturday
morning until race day. All skill levels are welcome and you don't have
to attend every run. We especially welcome want-to-be runners that need a
little motivation to get started. There will be plenty of support and
encouragement.
PARENTS
OF ALL GRADUATING HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE STUDENTS-Please submit the
following information so that your graduate can be recognized in our
June 9 worship bulletin. For students graduating from High School: Name,
Parents' Names, High School and Post-High School Plans (either name of college
attending, military enlistment or career pursuing). For students
graduating from College: Name, Parents' Names, College, Major and whether they
are graduating with honors. All
submissions must be emailed to Amy Donahoo at amydonahoo@wakeforestpres.org by
June 1.
WFPC IS AGAIN HOSTING THE WAKE INTERFAITH
HOSPITALITY NETWORK (WIHN) the week of June 16 through 23 and we need
volunteers in all areas of the program, including providing dinner,
participating in evening activities, staying overnight, driving the van to
and/or from the WIHN Center in Raleigh, setting up / taking down rooms,
laundry washing and providing specific supplies. WHIN provides
professional case management as well as food, shelter, and transportation for
homeless families as they work to restore their independence. Come be a part of
this important outreach program. Contact
Kathy Drake at 919-570-1100 or kathryn@ksdrakelaw.com with questions or to
volunteer.
