MISSION AND OUTREACH

THUSANANG "GIFT OF LOVE" CARD FOR MOTHER'S DAY! Make a $25 donation in honor of your mom for Mother's Day (each $25 card purchase can help to feed a family of four for three months in South Africa). Cards will be sold between services today (outside Narthex door breezeway and CLC table near parking lot doors). Also, as a result of our trip to South Africa, we are able to offer you beautifully hand-made note cards and envelopes made in South Africa to help raise funds for Thusanang and other ministries. Along with the Mother's Day Cards, the note cards will be selling for $10 per package and all proceeds will go to the Thusanang ministry.

BAKE SALE FOR RELAY FOR LIFE-We need cookies, brownies, cupcakes, mini-loaves for the Friday May 16th event. Please wrap cookies, brownies, etc in individual portions (2-4 each package). Drop off the baked goods at the desk in the Narthex before 4:30pm May 16th. Sign up sheets are available at the photocopier room next to the Narthex. Any questions please call Trisha or Arlene.

RELAY FOR LIFE EVENT AT WAKEFIELD HIGH SCHOOL ON MAY 16-17-Help support our WFPC team as we try to make this year our biggest success at helping to fight cancer!  Sign up today at www.relaywfpc.notlong.com to begin drawing in donations for the American Cancer Society and to be part of an inspirational event.  Or you can go to this website and support one of our current team members with a donation on their behalf.  If you would like to have someone sign you up, please pick up and complete a registration form and information at the church copier room counter or at the CLC info table near the parking lot doors.  Additional questions, please contact Lydia Menzel.

THE SPRING WFPC BLOOD DRIVE will be held next Sunday, May 18th in the CLC from 12:00 until 5:30. The sign-up sheets to donate blood or to volunteer are in the supply room at the beginning of the pre-school hallway. Thank you for our biggest drive yet in January - we collected 124 units of blood! (up from 96 units).  If you have any questions or would like to assist in leading this ministry, contact Ed Pulliam or Ann or Gary Skinner.

IT'S SPRING...TIME TO DUST OFF THOSE CLUBS AND HELP WFPC SUPPORT THE BELARUSIAN CHILDREN'S PROJECT! Saturday June 7th at 1:00 PM at Wildwood Green Golf Course in Raleigh, NC. Superball format...all skills levels are encouraged to participate!! The event is to raise funds for bringing children from Belarus (near the site of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster) to Wake Forest for six weeks of loving care and support in the homes of WFPC volunteers. Play as an individual for $65.00 which includes a round of golf and dinner. You, or your business/company, can sponsor a hole for only $350.00. Sponsorship entitles you to advertising signage at the hole and one round of golf followed by a delicious dinner & fellowship, or sponsor a $350.00 hole without playing golf and receive two dinner tickets. To sign up for sponsorship and/or register to play, please complete one of the registration forms located on the information desk in the narthex or on the information table in the CLC. Also, you may email Jesse Osterhoudt at jkosterhoudt@aol.com with your name, handicap, desired foursome (if you have a preference), and sponsorship information if planning to sponsor a hole.

CONGREGATIONAL CARE

STEPHEN MINISTRY TRAINING UPDATE- Here is what our Stephen Ministers are studying this week. Continue to pray for our Stephen Leaders and Stephen Ministers as Stephen Minister training nears completion. Stephen Ministry relationships go on until the crisis is past, the need for care is diminished (not necessarily completely over), and the care receiver is able to cope on his or her own. In this session our Stephen Ministers explore how to know when it is time to bring closure to a caring relationship-and how to do so in a healthy way.

FELLOWSHIP

IF YOU ARE IN NEED OF TABLECLOTHS FOR YOUR NEXT EVENT AT WFPC please note the new procedure.  There are forms available through the church office and also through the website.  Complete the request for use of tablecloths form and return to the church office.  They will pass it on for approval and you will be contacted as soon as possible regarding arrangements for use.  The linen closet doors will now be locked so it is very important for you to request the need for use of the tablecloths.  Any questions please call Sandie Buda.
