Walk Through Bethlehem

Begun in the year 2000 as a Christmas gift to our community and surrounding area, each year Wake Forest Presbyterian Church delivers the true Christmas story in a stirring virtual "walk" through Bethlehem to the stable where the Christ Child was born. Under the night sky, the campus of Wake Forest Presbyterian Church is transformed into the most breathtaking outdoor, living nativity program that you can imagine.

With a cast and crew of more than 250, we bring the story of the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, to life before your very eyes. As you journey through the streets of Bethlehem you are engulfed in such emotion as this most beautiful and amazing story unfolds. Authentic costumes and settings immerse you into believing you are actually witnessing that most holy miracle.

The 2016 program hosted 2,500 guests in two nights, and we are looking forward to the 2017 program. All performances are free to the public. Monetary and non-perishable donations are being accepted to support Tri-Area Ministries and Back Pack Buddies. Individual cereals, orange juice, canned soups, peanut butter, ham/chicken/tuna salad packets, beanie weenies, spaghettios/raviolis, cereal bars are needed.  Visitors in strollers and wheelchairs should be aware the Walk moves at a slow pace through grass, gravel and wooden ramps.

2017 Dates Are:
Friday, December 1       6:00 - 9:00 PM
Saturday, December 2   5:00 - 9:00 PM
Sunday, December 3     5:00 - 8:00 PM

Family Promise - January, 2018

FamilyPromiseSmall

Family Promise provides professional case management as well as food, shelter, and transportation for homeless families as they work to restore their independence. Family Promise is one of the few agencies in the area committed to helping homeless families stay together.

Family Promise works with a network of churches in Wake County to provide for the immediate and long range needs of homeless families in the area. Churches provide food and fellowship to four to six families during a one week stay at the church facilities.

Families stay overnight in the church and are transported to the Family Promise Center in Raleigh each morning. At the Center, they are provided with day care for their children, transportation, transitional housing assistance, job placement assistance, financial counseling, family crisis  counseling, and more. Families return to the church each evening where church families provide dinner and fellowship for them. Volunteers from our church also sign up to stay overnight on specified evenings and drive our guests to and from the Family Promise Center in Raleigh.

In 2018, our first of two host weeks will be the January 7 through 14.  We need your help to make the week successful.  We need van drivers, overnight hosts, dinner hosts and evening activities coordinators.  Family Promise is a wonderful ministry that gives everyone, kids and adults alike, the opportunity to volunteer to help.
