One Great Hour of Sharing Offering

onegreathourThe One Great Hour of Sharing offering is collected during the season of Lent. At Wake Forest Presbyterian, it is collected on Palm Sunday. A gift to One Great Hour of Sharing enables the church to share God’s love with our neighbors-in-need around the world by providing relief to those affected by natural disasters, providing food to the hungry, and helping to empower the poor and oppressed. The offering is divided between the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance Program, the Presbyterian Hunger Program and the Self Development of People Program.

The Presbyterian Disaster Assistance Program (PDA) enables congregations and mission partners of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) to witness to the healing love of Christ through caring for communities adversely affected by crises and catastrophic events. For the last several years, our adult mission trips have been to areas being served by the PDA. Click here to read more about the PDA.

The Presbyterian Hunger Program (PHP) works with Presbyterians and other partners to alleviate hunger and eliminate its causes, responding with compassion and justice to poor and hungry people in local communities in the United States and internationally. Click here to read more about the PHP.

The Self Development of People Program is a partnership of love, justice and empowerment reflecting the image of God who stands with all people. It is a ministry that affirms God’s concern for humankind.  Dissatisfied with poverty and oppression, the program unites faith and action by participating in the empowerment of economically poor, oppressed, and disadvantaged people and working to change the structures that perpetuate poverty, oppression and injustice.
