The Knit and Crochet Ministry of WFPC

The WFPC Knit and Crochet Ministry was established in 2009 by a dedicated knitter within the church and falls under the oversight of the Encouragement and Visitation Ministry as part of the Diaconate reporting to Congregational Care.

Responding to God's call in our lives, members of the Knit and Crochet Ministry seek to develop supportive and meaningful bonds in fellowship while creating knit and crochet projects that allow us to use our hands for God's glory. God knows who will receive our offering and what their needs are even before it is completed! As you make your shawl or project, pray that your work is blessed, and that the love you put into each stitch will surround the person who will receive it with God's comforting embrace.

We lovingly create and gift handmade knit and crochet projects that convey God's love, blessings, support, comfort, care, healing and strength, in service to God's children. All projects are blessed and presented to a person in need. The ministry began by providing Prayer Shawls, but has expanded to include Baptism Blankets and Lambs, New Baby Basket and Sibling Toys, Kids' Scarves for the Operation School Bell Program through Triangle Assistance League, Men's Scarves and Hats for WOW to distribute when providing meals to the homeless, and Scarves and Hats for Family Promise program guests.

No time? We have a fantastic, easy project for you! We have started a new campaign to create as many Pocked Prayer Shawls as possible! These small squares are a great way to let someone know that you are thinking of them. A perfict gift when just a little something is needed to convey God's constant love. We began by providing squares to our Family Promise guests in August 2016, and have plans to provide them to the members of the congregation and distribute through our many ministries. We are also continuing our effort to donate at least 100 scarves and hats each year!

If you would like to contribute, check the links below for pattern guidelines and suggestions. Completed projects may be dropped off in the basket on front desk in the Narthex.

The group will meet 4 times from September 2016 through May 2017. The meetings will be from 1:15 - 2:15 PM on the following Mondays: September 19, November 14, February 13 and April 24. We meet in the Youth Room in the Christian Life Center to enjoy fellowship while working on a current project. Many members cannot attend meetings, but contribute projects that are greatly appreciated. We would love for you to join us! We honor God and thank Him for our ability to serve others in this special way. As we participate, we share in the vision of WFPC: "Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it." (I Corinthians 12:27)
